Recommendation 2

The peoples’ connection to their land is represented by the four ethnographic groups and the "Community’s Threshing Floor of Porreiras", still in use.

For the milling of corn, there are still more than eight hundred watermills, most of which are still active nowadays, particularly in Casaldate and Porreiras.

To enjoy Paredes de Coura we offer a diversity of activities to blend in with its natural beauty, such as: hiking, horseback riding, buggies and other all-terrain vehicle rides.

There is a wide range of pedestrian paths which will render nature lovers completely awestruck.

The beautiful baroque churches and chapels are also part of the local landscape. There are over a hundred and amongst them the most amazing is the Chapel of Ecce Homo in rococo style, in a nearby parish.

What to do?

  • Recommendation 1

The main characteristic of Paredes de Coura is its natural beauty of which the "Protected Landscape of the Corno do Bico" is its main feature. The Landscape has its own center of education and environmental interpretation.

In the center of the village, you can also visit the Church of the Holy Spirit; the Cultural Center with ongoing and rich activities all year round; the Regional Museum and the Local Archive. You can also go for a swim in the local swimming pool and exercise at the gym. Why not enjoy a quiet afternoon at the Public Library and afterwards do some shopping in traditional shops? There is also a Tourism Office available for anything you need.
